We signed up Tyler
to attend the Seattle Creative Kids (SCK) summer camp in Maple Leaf. He goes once a week for four hours. I thought he would have a hard time
being left to someone else's care since he attended a co-op for 2 years and was so used to having me around. However, he liked SCK right away. It is such a fun place to be and he also had a great connection with his
teacher Sheila. I was really surprised however of how much he readily let go
of me and became so focused on school.
On the first day I dropped him off, he said his goodbye with hugs and kisses and I stayed in my car for 30 minutes thinking that the teacher would call me back in to console him...boy was I wrong. I left without a call. When I picked him up several hours later, he had a lot of stories to tell and repeatedly told me he had such a great time. He also exclaimed on the way home that he really, really, REALLY liked teacher Sheila and wanted to go back there soon.

Today I picked him up and without even saying hello, he told me that
he doesn't want to go home yet, and I thought...ummm, your time is up buddy,
don't you miss me? Then he negotiated by asking to stay for 5 minutes. After the time was up, he said he wanted "...many MORE minutes". I'm just thankful that
he enjoyed his time at the summer camp. I think it will really help him
transition to preschool this fall. I miss him already just
thinking about it.
